How to get to Ilulissat
In travel time we are just a few hours away
In travel time we are just a few hours flying time from the major cities of Europe - but you will land in a completely different world where new dimensions and perspectives are the perfect background for a holiday or an exclusive conference.
When travelling from Copenhagen you will land at Kangerlussuaq (Søndre Strømfjord), and from here it is just a 45 minute flight north to Ilulissat. The combined travel time from leaving Copenhagen to your arrival at Hotel Arctic is about 7 hours.
From Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, the travel time to Ilulissat is approximately three hours.
No matter from where you arrive we will welcome you at the airport. Hotel Arctic is only five minutes drive from the airport and we will collect you - and drive you back to the airport upon departure - as part of the service provided for all our guests.
Welcome to a completely different world!
Ilulissat is charming
Ilulissat is a charming town where the coloured wooden buildings on the hills blend with the modern buildings in a close interaction between human life and wild nature. The many dog sledges parked outside the houses speak for themselves. This is not a motion picture set. It is a town where traditional Greenlandic life is lived.
With dog sledges as a natural part of the transport network and with lots of activity in and around the harbour where numerous dinghies constantly enter and leave on their way to and from fishing close to the huge icebergs.
The town has a museum in the birthplace of the polar explorer Knud Rasmussen, there are shops with Greenlandic handicrafts and sealskin garments of modern design and there are cafes and restaurants if you would like to try some local delicacies.
